This year the government published their position on EU and the positions of both EU nationals living in the UK and UK nationals living in the EU post Brexit.
The following points were stated by the Government regarding EU nationals
1.There is no change for EU nationals while UK remains member of EU
2.There will be new rights for qualifying EU nationals who were resident in UK before Brexit and who remain resident post Brexit
3.To qualify you will have to apply for residence status
4.To qualify for residence status, you must be resident in the UK and have 5 years continuous residence at the time of applying
5.EU nationals who are currently resident in the UK but do not have 5 years residence at the time of applying will have to apply for temporary status so that you can remain in the UK until you have acquired the 5-year resident period
6.Qualifying EU nationals will be able to apply for settled status allowing you to remain in the UK
7.EU nationals who arrive in the UK after the UK withdraws from the EU will be able to remain in the UK for a temporary period but will not necessarily be able to apply to remain permanently
